Intergenerational Trauma Coordinator

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**POSITION TITLE**: Intergenerational Trauma Coordinator
**IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR**: Executive Director.
**EMPLOYER**: The Indigenous Network
**SCOPE**: The Intergenerational Trauma Coordinator (ITC) is responsible for designing, developing, coordinating, facilitating, and monitoring program deliverables with community needs and interests. To ensure that the intergenerational traumas caused by Indian Residential Schools are addressed through strengths-based approaches to achieve and maintain a good mind while promoting healthy lifestyles, improving individual and family emotional well-being, and providing access to cultural knowledge and activities that foster self-respect and identity.
**AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY**: Ø Coordinates with the Indigenous Wholistic Mental Wellness Coordinator, and other Friendship Centre staff and Indigenous organisations to promote a coordinated approach to healing and wellness services.
Ø Participates in priority-setting at external committees and coalitions relevant to addressing intergenerational traumas.
Ø Improves service system pathways relevant to intergenerational trauma, mental health and addictions for urban Indigenous individuals and families.
Ø Promote the development of protocols and referral agreements with urban Indigenous organizations, mainstream health and social service agencies, Indigenous traditional health practitioners, and other relevant community partners and stakeholders as it pertains to the needs of the urban Indigenous community.
Ø Improves awareness and understanding across communities of Indigenous cultural values and historical context, especially as relates to intergenerational trauma or other factors that impact mental health and addictions.
Ø Promotes awareness and ensures access to the program through a variety of outreach efforts and promotional activities.
Ø Conducts peer counselling, i.e., providing support, encouragement, and resource information for urban Indigenous individuals and their families.
Ø Conducts client intakes and identifies traumas, mental health, addictions, and other related needs.
Ø Responds to client social emergencies and provides crisis interventions.
Ø Provides wrap-around services and strengths-based action plans for Indigenous community members, ex. healing, wellness, addictions free activities, positive parenting, family interaction and cultural awareness.
Ø Coordinates the development of healing circles, peer support groups and self-help processes to assist in community healing, anger management, positive self-image development, alternative discipline methods and positive relationships.
Ø Offers land-based activities, opportunities for transmission of cultural knowledge, and connections to Elders and traditional knowledge holders to support cultural healing and positive self-identity.
Ø Assist Elders and Healers during One-to-one days On-Site. Ensure that safety protocols are maintained between clients.
Ø Accurately reports and ensures all program objectives are being met in accordance with agreements.
Ø Utilizes quarterly reporting tools and database (if applicable) to input all data as required
**ANNUAL SALARY**:$50,000.00
Ø Must have a passion for and be willing to role model healthy behaviours.
Ø Must have experience in program planning, development, implementation, data collection and evaluation; strong facilitation skills and experience presenting educational workshops and working with groups.
Ø Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with mínimal supervision in a team-oriented setting; ability to problem solve and take the initiative.
Ø Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Ø Excellent case and file management skills, stress management and time management skills.
Ø Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills.
Ø Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Ø Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
Ø A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Clearance will be a condition of employment.

Ø Develop and maintain current, accurate, confidential participant files that reflect assessment, services, and outcomes.
Ø Complete intake process with clients.
Ø Be knowledgeable of and work with community agencies and referral sources who will be in a position to assist clients in meeting immediate and long-term goals.
