Safety Coordinator-seasonal Field Position

Edmonton, Canada O'HANLON PAVING LTD Full time

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Create and advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures for safety data.
- Monitor compliance with the company’s safety program by employees and subcontractors.
- Design and write safety standards that conform to industry standards, federal, provincial and local regulations, as well as customers' contractor qualification programs.
- Perform job site safety compliance inspections, including hazards analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations.
- Conduct training programs/seminars for supervisors and field employees, with respect to occupational safety issues and to meet local, provincial, and federal OHS requirements, as well as Environmental and NSC requirements.
- Perform additional assignments per management's direction.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- NCSO designation is highly desirable.
- Working towards certification, or already certified, in the Occupational Health & Safety profession is an asset.
- 3-5 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety in a related field is highly desirable.
- Some experience working in the road construction industry is an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations is required.
- Must be familiar with inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and communication skills (verbal, written and visual presentation).
- Must be proficient in presentation, database and office software.
- Must be able to work effectively alone and prioritize tasks and projects as needed.
- Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with high attention to detail.
- Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives is highly desirable.
- Must be able to work for extended hours.
- Must be able to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract and site access drug and alcohol test results.
