The Strengthening Abilities and Journeys of Empowerment (SAJE) program (named by the Ministry’s Youth Advisory Council) is a new program designed to assist youth and young adults in and from Ministry care, to achieve their goals and connect them with supports and services.

In your role as a SAJE Guide, you will be responsible for developing relationships and providing guidance and support to young adults, ages 19-25, who have left the care of the ministry.

SAJE Guides support young adults in their transition to adulthood by providing continuity of service, a connection to a broad range of adult government, community and cultural supports and services, and access to financial supports.

SAJE Guides are located throughout the province and work in collaboration with SAJE Navigators, Team Leaders, and other ministry staff as part of a province-wide team. Travel is a requirement of the position, as SAJE Guides meet in-person with young adults who are located in neighboring communities within their assigned region.

**Job Requirements**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, child & youth care or a human services field; OR
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent AND at least one of the following:

- Diploma in a Human Services field AND two years of experience working with youth or young adults in a directly related field; OR
- Certificate in a Human Services field AND three years of experience working with youth or young adults in a directly related field; OR Four years of experience working with youth or young adults in a directly related field.
- Preference May Be Given to Applicants With The Following:

- With experience working with youth (age 13+) or young adults in and from the care of MCFD or Indigenous Child and Family Service Agencies (formerly known as Delegated Aboriginal Agencies).
- With experience in successfully engaging Indigenous children, youth (age 13+), families, communities and other Indigenous partners.
- With lived experience as a youth (age 13+) in care with the Ministry.
- Who voluntarily self-identify as Indigenous, Metis or Inuit.
- With 2 or more years experience working with vulnerable youth (age 13+) and young adults with complex needs including issues of substance abuse, mental illness, homelessness, or youth in or formerly from ministry care.
- With experience working with youth (age 13+) or young adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and their families.
- With experience in the use of virtual technology (MS Teams, Skype, Zoom, etc.) to deliver services and sustain meaningful engagement with youth, young adults, and families. With experience in planning, coordinating and hosting presentations using traditional and modern training methodologiesWillingness Statements:

- Must possess and maintain a valid BC (full) class 5 driver’s licence.
- May be required to work flexible hours (work evenings/weekends).
- May be required to use own vehicle (appropriate insurance coverage) on an expense account basis.
- May be required to travel in remote locations.
- May be required to travel in all (reasonable) weather conditions. Willingness to work with youth, young adults, and families facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to situations involving individuals in crisis or requiring specialized supports.**About this Position**:

This is a full-time employment opportunity. SAJE Guides work core business hours Monday to Friday and are willing to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends) occasionally.
