As a Pedagogical leader you will work alongside educators and support practices that enable them to be thoughtful and intentional about their work with children. You will promote deep professional and pedagogical engagement through research, reflective practice, and critical, collaborative dialogue.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Oversee the planning of curriculum based experiences surrounding children’s interests and ensuring that the programming is of high quality and being implemented throughout the day.
- Building relationships with families and including them in the learning process.
- Act as part of the Centre leadership team, supporting families, children and team members
- Support the development of engaging, physically safe and emotionally supportive environment that is inclusive of all children
- Encourage and foster reflective practice that supports the organizational program statement and pedagogical principles.
- Support, coach and mentor educators on the implementation of pedagogy methodologies
- Provide expert guidance to support ongoing development and continuous improvement to ensure the delivery of high-quality curriculum and care that meet the needs of children and families
- Build the capacity of educators to assess and deliver evidence-based practices
- Support reflective practice and documentation
- Support the development of aesthetically pleasing and engaging environments
- Work closely with educators to develop program goals
- Schedule pedagogical time with educators
- Support the development & ongoing reflection of Learning Goals.
- Observe and document children’s learning, bringing visibility to children’s competencies, theories, ideas, and curiosities
- Interact with Ministry staff and other regulators around licensing requirements for inspection purposes when needed
- Follows the Centre’s Quality Assurance cycle when using program evaluation tools
- Other duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience working in a licensed childcare environment
- Is registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators and possesses the training and documents required by the Ministry of Education to work in a childcare setting
- RECE Registered Early Childhood Educator in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators is considered an asset
- Previous experience as an Early Childhood Educator working in a licensed childcare environment
- Passionate about early learning and care, emergent curriculum, and life-long learning
- Previous leadership experience is considered an asset
- Have a deep understanding of How Does Learning Happen, related legislation, Compass ELC policies and procedures, distributed leadership, Compass ELC’s foundation series, CCEYA (Child Care Early Years Act), Compass ELC’s Strategic Plan, and supporting a culture of a safe and joyful workplace.

**MINISTRY REQUIREMENTS**:

- 2 Step TB
- Updated Immunizations (Tetanus, MMR)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
