**Your Opportunity**

Our Water Business Center has a need for a Project Controller in a full-time permanent capacity. As Project Controller you will be working closely within the team of Project Controllers, Project Managers and Leadership in the Ontario Water group to provide financial and change management support on scope, schedule, and cost analysis throughout the life cycle of projects. Our projects are multi-disciplinary, engineering water and wastewater infrastructure projects that can include some or all of the following project phases: feasibility analysis, conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction phases. As a project controls professional at Stantec, you will utilize your expertise in planning, scheduling, cost controls, communications, and problem solving in a fast-paced, professional environment to assist the Water team with successful project delivery and program development.

**Your Key Responsibilities**
- Assist the Project Manager in tracking and coordinating the progress of projects on a regular basis to ensure that the project is on-track by developing and maintaining detailed project schedules;
- Interface with project staff to develop project forecasts by analyzing project schedule and estimating costs to complete the project and ensure that those costs are accurately recorded in the financial accounting system;
- Assist project managers and Stantec’s Financial Services group to prepare and process project budgets, change orders, monthly invoices and supporting documentation;
- Assist project managers with preparation of work breakdown structure and budgets for new projects and change orders in conjunction with clients and other team members;
- Assist project managers with internal review and approvals process prior to submission of change order;
- Gross margin analysis performed to evaluate financial performance for existing projects and project change orders;
- Undertake project setup procedures within internal financial system;
- Participate in cost risk assessment and schedule risk with regular review of existing and forecasted risks relative to project progress;
- Perform project internal audits and financial reconciliations;
- Support development, administration and monitoring of project sub
- consultant agreements and budgetary spending;
- Liaise between Project Technical Leads and Project Managers to monitor and control project resourcing and accounting;
- Assist Project Manager with compliance of Stantec and ISO standards for Project Management, including participation in audits.
- Provide general team support / office support functions as required.
- Report to the Business Centre Leadership with regard to ongoing financial matters and be responsible to ensure that timely invoicing and financial reporting is completed.

**Qualifications**

**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
- Strong understanding of all phases of project controls concepts and ability to clearly communicate ideas to others.
- Thorough understanding of project accounting and accrual collection.
- Solid understanding of principles and methods related to Earned Value Management.
- Ability to multi-task, manage time, organize, and set priorities and make timely decisions.
- Self-motivated, proactive individual with a strong work ethic, capable of prioritizing and communicating to multiple groups.
- Able to adapt quickly to changing work demands without compromising accuracy and quality of work.
- Excellent written and verbal communications.
- Possess strong problem solving and analytical skills, including attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be proficient in MS Office skills, with advanced skills in MS Excel. Experience with Financial/Cost systems (Oracle, Prolog, etc.) is preferred.
- Prior work in project controls, finance and/or project assistant role is an asset.
- A/E industry experience preferred.

**Education and Experience**
- Two-year business or related diploma or degree preferred with minimum of 1-year appropriate course work in project management, accounting, finance, or business preferred.
