Cad Technician

Reporting to the Director of Project Management and working from our Waterloo office, the CAD Technician will perform various activities to facilitate the manufacturing of our dasher board systems utilizing 3-D Solid Modeling software and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create submittal drawings in AutoCAD or SolidWorks for project approval
- Generate parametric models in SolidWorks through utilizing DriveWorks configurator
- Produce production drawings for shop floor
- Generate BOM and cut lists
- Support the development of further CAD automation
- Assist with code requirements for CNC and production equipment
- Generate code for custom parts in CAMWorks
- Processing custom orders and completing required documentation
- Various other tasks as required
Education & Certifications:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline.
Knowledge, Experience, and/or Technical Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of CAD design experience in an engineered to order and manufacturing environment
- Strong SolidWorks knowledge, including advanced automation of parametric designs
- AutoCAD, DriveWorks, CAMWorks, and Epicor experience considered an asset
- Advanced computer skills required (Microsoft Office / Windows)

- Mechanical aptitude and comfortable in manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written (in English)
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a disciplined Process Improvement thinking style.
- Results-oriented, self-motivated individual with a strong sense of initiative

- Evaluated based on attainment of objectives critical to the company’s success.
- Provides administrative and professional direction to project resources, and as a consultant provides guidance to top management, executives and officers.
- Regular interactions with peers, other functional department staff heads and internal stakeholders, as well as external relationships with suppliers, customers, sales and distribution employees as required.

- Makes decisions on matters under area of responsibility according to budget, strategy, and within established business and design practices.
- Exercises independent judgment in solving customer issues, creatively and collaboratively, and within budget.
- Escalates issues with significant risk and impact to the business to senior management.
