**Job Purpose**

As a **Casual/On-Call** Marina Security Guard at Mosquito Creek Marina, you'll play a vital role in ensuring a safe and secure environment. Your duties include patrolling the yards, buildings, and docks to enforce marina rules. You'll be prepared to respond to emergencies and provide exceptional customer service to guests and staff. Maintaining clear communication is key, as you'll write detailed reports on patrols and incidents, and submit regular reports to the Manager.

**A. Duties, Responsibilities, Authority and Accountabilities**

**Duties**:

- Perform security guard work

a. Checks yard hourly.

b. Checks fences for holes.

c. Checks doors and gates hourly.

d. Reports any lights that are out.

e. Checks docks and boats to ensure they are upright and reports any overturned boats or docks to the Manager immediately

f. Provides hourly report sheets to Manager.

g. Follows up to ensure repairs are done.

b. Salts high traffic areas, as needed.

c. Completes washroom checks regularly to ensure no vandalism, coin machines are intact, etc.

d. Periodically walks along trail and in the yard, collecting dock carts to identify inventory on hand.

e. Continuously monitors the ALX gate access report.

f. Continuously monitors the cameras on site.

g. Ensures contractors have a gate key (no codes provided), an MCMB ID badge and are allowed on docks between 7am to 7pm (in the yard until 1Opm).

h. Checks in daily using checkmate as per procedure.
- Ensure a safe work environment

a. Maintains and organizes the inventory of safety or emergency items i.e. deicer, padlocks, cables/chains, bilge/bailing pumps, flashlights/batteries, etc. as advised through safety meetings or by the Dock Master.

b. Advises the Dock Master or the Marina Operations Manager when safety or emergency stocks need replenishing.

c. Attends fire safety drills and safety meetings to be briefed about new procedures or events that impact safety and security, when required.

d. Checks fire extinguisher boxes, fire hoses, and other emergency safety items on all docks to ensure intact and not missing; ensure all objects in front or around are removed so they are visible and accessible.

e. Checks portable fire pumps, ensuring pumps, hoses, fuel jerry cans, suction hoses, and connections are not missing and are not damaged. Advises Marina Management of the condition regarding the above-mentioned items.
- Take direction from the Marina Management Team

a. Locks up or releases boats and maintains key inventory as instructed by Marina Management.

b. Completes full Marina slip audit, organizes slip audit sheets identifying any discrepancies from dock master report, and notifies Dock Master.

c. Consults with Dock Master and Marina Operations Manager regularly with issues/ concerns from staff, customers, suppliers, trades personnel, etc.

d. Performs dock audits when required (high season).
- Adhere to workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and procedures

1. Organizes and de-clutters the work area to maintain a safe workspace.

2. Reports immediately all unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

3. Reports promptly all injuries to the supervisor or first aid attendant and obtain required medical attention.

4. Co-operates in accident investigations.

5. Informs the supervisor of any medication or medical condition that may cause impairment and create undue risk to the employee or anyone else.

6. Reports to work sober (free from alcohol or drugs).

7. Wears personal protective equipment if required, and ensures it is in good condition.

8. Offers recommendations that may help to improve safety in your workplace.

9. Reports immediately to the supervisor if uncertain about how to perform your work safely.
- Participate as a member of the Marina Operations

a. Liaises and works cooperatively with staff and management to ensure divisional and departmental goals are achieved.

b. Cooperatively learns new techniques and incorporates into standard procedures as directed.

c. Makes requests for suitable equipment, manuals, and reference material to accomplish tasks.

d. Attends work-related courses, seminars, and workshops in order to gather further knowledge within professional areas of expertise as requested.

e. Participates in strategic decisions relating to the improvement of the division’s operational effectiveness. Implements agreed solutions.

**B. Other**
- Perform other duties as required.

**C. Reporting Responsibilities and Authorities from Supervisor**
- Reports to the Marina Security Team Leader.

**D. Position Requirements**
- Must be fluent in English
- Providing three (3) business references is an asset. Valid references must be a direct supervisor who is familiar with the applicant’s work.
