SDS - Safety Design Strategies is a progressive company that provides clients with safety personnel, safety training and rescue services that contribute to the success of their construction or industrial projects. Our team of Safety Managers, Officers, Trainers and Rescue Technicians all work together to provide outstanding customer service.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on all rescue equipment. Maintain inventory of vehicles. Any deficiencies or missing equipment must be reported immediately.
- Complete circle check of vehicle before leaving and upon return. Any deficiencies to be reported immediately.
- Vehicle and equipment must be cleaned, organized and tidied upon return, ready to go for the next job.
- Assess the confined space and create a rescue plan.
- Check that all workers have the required training and review PPE and rescue plan.
- Ensure signs and barriers are erected and setup all necessary equipment.
- Ensure all documentation is filled out neatly and adequately.
- Carefully monitor workers and remain alert and vigilant while on standby.
- Perform emergency evacuation and/or carry out rescue plan when required.
- Help clean up the work area.
**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Technical Rope Rescue, Confined Space Entry or High Angle Rescue training is mandatory.
- A valid Standard First Aid, CPR & AED certificate is required.
- A valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract is required.
- Security clearance is an asset.
- Level 1 Paramedic is an asset. Preference will be given to individuals currently active within EMS or fire services.
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, Fire Watch and Fire Safety training will be provided.
- Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Must possess excellent hazard awareness, communication and emergency response planning skills.
- Must be able to work within a team environment as well as without supervision.
- Site-to-site travel throughout Toronto, GTA and surrounding areas required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekend availability

**Education**:

- DCS / DEC (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Confined Space or High Angle Rescue (preferred)
- Technical Rope Rescue (preferred)
- Standard First Aid, CPR & AED (preferred)
- Level 1 Paramedic (preferred)
