**Job Summary**: We are looking for someone who will provide excellent customer service in reference to library related jobs and clerical tasks; someone who enjoys interacting with the public as well as someone who is comfortable enough with computers to be able to troubleshoot basic problems, help patrons with basic computer skills, and who will easily learn how to handle our library software.

**Responsibilities Include**
- Process books for circulation
- Assess returned items and fix small repairs or process them to the repair desk
- Circulate books
- Shelve books
- Collect fines and payments, refund patrons as necessary
- Answer phones
- Notify patrons regarding reserved material
- Straighten shelves and shelf read
- Perform opening and closing procedures
- Attend all staff meetings (once every two months, Monday mornings)
- Assist with any program carried out by the library as required
- Assist patrons with and do library related printing/photocopying as necessary
- Create and renew patron memberships
- Assist patrons with all library related issues
- Stay current with all technology used by the library for our patrons
- Stay current with library programs and services to be able to answer patron inquiries
- Enforce library rules and policies as necessary
- Invigilate exams
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the Library Director, Assistant Library Director, or Library Manager

**Requirements & Qualifications**
- Ability to serve a diverse public
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multi-task in a busy environment with frequent interruptions
- Computer skills required; Knowledge of MS office (including Word and Excel), and the ability to adapt to emerging technologies. Familiarity with Libby, e-readers, tablets and other devices is an asset
- Basic office skills required; telephone, photocopier, debit card machine and cash register
- Confidence to enforce policies as necessary
- Physical ability to bend, reach and lift light loads (25+ lbs.) and stand for prolonged periods of time
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Criminal record check required upon offer of employment
- Previous customer service experience is an asset
- Previous library experience is an asset
- Library Technology Diploma is an asset

**Work Hours**: Minimum of 12 hours weekly, flexibility required. Evenings and Saturdays required. Additional shifts available for filling in, additional shifts necessary in summer.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $15.80 per hour

Expected hours: 12 - 20 per week
