Multicultural Association of Fredericton Inc. (MCAF) is seeking _supply_ ESL Instructors and we would like to hear from you

ESL Instructors are responsible for planning and delivering settlement language training to adult newcomers supporting their long-term integration in the community. Classes are in person and virtual. ESL Instructors are also responsible for assessing/evaluating student learning, based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) framework, the LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) curriculum framework and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA).

Supply ESL Instructors work from zero to full time hours without guarantee. When there is an opening for Full time or Part time ESL Instructors, priority and first consideration are given to Supply ESL Instructors.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide a supportive and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage ESL learners’ language growth
- Modify classroom practices to fit the learning styles of various learners
- Create lessons that are motivating and engaging with a focus on learning and progress
- Follow the Canadian Language Benchmark requirements and Portfolio-Based Language

Assessment guidelines
- Provide feedback and support that encourages learners to develop their language skills and learning autonomy
- Demonstrate support and awareness of the common barriers that adult ESL learners may face outside of class
- Promote and facilitate engaging practices through active collaboration with other ESL instructors
- Work with team members to create a warm, positive and safe environment for learners
- Keep up-to-date records of learners’ attendance and other information as required

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor of Education or
- Degree in other field _and_ TESL or equivalent certificate
- Criminal Record Check Clearance with Vulnerable Sector
- At least one-year experience Teaching English as a Second Language in an adult setting
- Excellent interpersonal, cross cultural, written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain respectful, professional relationships
- Open-minded and capable of performing a wide variety of tasks
- Ability to focus quickly as demands change
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Excellent time management skills
- Experience working with vulnerable and marginalized newcomer families with trauma history would be an asset
- Experience implementing Portfolio-Based Language Assessment within the ESL Adult learner classroom would be an asset

Terms of employment:

- Contract - renewable pending continuation of funding
- Supply hours as needed
