Apex Aluminum is a state-of-the-art aluminum extrusion factory located in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. With a 170,000 square foot aluminum extrusion facility and some of the most modern equipment in its industry, Apex can offer custom extrusions, mill finish aluminum and anodized aluminum to satisfy the most demanding customer and all architectural needs.
As a Shift Manager, your key objectives are to manage, audit and train shift supervisors and align maintenance personnel to maximize output while producing quality extruded products. This role is essential in ensuring smooth operations and achieving strategic production outcomes. This position reports directly to the VP of Operations and has the following general duties and responsibilities assigned to their role.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**1. Leadership and Team Management**:

- Execute directives from the VP of Operations/General Manager to achieve set goals.
- Lead and motivate teams, constructively manage conflicts.
- Leading teams comprised of diverse functions such as Operations, Maintenance, and Quality.

**2. Communication and Collaboration**:

- Ensure excellent communication and accountability within the team.
- Collaborate with department managers to manage activities and timelines.
- Utilize communication channels (MS Teams, radio, face-to-face) to provide updates and allocate resources.

**3. Operational Supervision**:

- Maintain a vigilant and aware presence on the production floor.
- Attaining a schedule adherence rate exceeding 90% in extrusion.
- Guaranteeing departmental On-Time Delivery (OTD) of no less than 90%.
- Ensure the shipping team adheres to the prescribed load plan.

**4. Maintenance and Preventive Tasks**:

- Verify the completion of scheduled preventive maintenance tasks by maintenance technicians.
- Conclude all maintenance-related tasks from the shift in a timely manner.
- Audit processes with a high standard, maintaining relentless drive to follow systems.
- Perform root cause analysis for variances from standards and implement corrective actions.

**5. Safety and Compliance**:

- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and manage incidents effectively.
- Effectively address and oversee safety incidents reported during each shift.
- Ensure full compliance with pre-operation checklists in extrusion.

Required Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising maintenance and operations.
- Proficiency in producing high-quality written communications.
- Experience as a Quality Technician is an asset.
- Established track record in supervisory positions within production or manufacturing settings.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to excel under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
- Dedication to upholding safety and quality standards.
