The Spa Therapist administers professional relaxation massage and body treatments as assigned, to our guests. They must possess a thorough knowledge of body anatomy, contraindications, have exceptional massage techniques, possess exceptional cleanliness and sanitation skills and be willing to train in our spa’s specific body treatment offerings. They must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of our guests.
**This position is a contract position and is paid based on services provided**
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provide consistent professional relaxation massage treatments
- in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices
- to both female & male resort guests and spa clients.
- Ability to perform 60 and 75 minute treatments.
- Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the spa.
- Must be reliable and dependable for required shifts.
- Be available to work weekends, long weekends and holiday periods.
- Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
- Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products while educating and training guests in these areas.
- Actively promote home care programs, meeting minimum retail sales goals.
- Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
- Perform prep work and properly clean and restock room as required in a timely fashion.
- Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
- Actively promote the spa, treatments, services, sessions and retail, as well as programs, promotions, and/or discounts available.
- Handle guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
- Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
- Manage guest feedback and complaints with professionalism and patience.
- Able to work safely and securely in a manner that protects the integrity and the safety of the guests, team members and resort.
- Possess the ability to work without direct supervision.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
- Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa.
- Some stress resulting from daily guest interactions.
- Able to attend work reliably and consistently.
- Strong work ethic.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED**:
- Completion of a Spa therapy diploma.
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Must have your own GST registered number.
- Must have your own malpractice and liability insurance.
- Must have your own WorkSafe BC coverage.
- Minimum 1 years working in a luxury spa environment.
- Previous experience in a resort atmosphere is an asset.
- Perform massage treatments and body treatments.
- Willing to continue to learn new skills as a Spa Therapist.
- Ability to suggestive sell.
- Have general knowledge of spa products and be able to discuss guests’ needs.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills required.
- Proven ability to multi-task and take direction.
- Organizational skill required.
- This position is physically demanding and involves a combination of standing, walking, carrying, lifting, bending, crouching and kneeling for possibly extended periods of time.
- This is a fast-paced environment during certain times of the year in which you will work under pressure, with tight deadlines, repetitive tasks and attention to detail will be necessary.
- Must have enthusiasm in doing the job tasks required.
- Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Basic computer knowledge is an asset.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, critical thinking, significant use of memory.
- Must be a team player.
- Being multi-lingual is an asset.
- Flexible to a changing schedule.
