- About the Role- This role provides an exciting opportunity to provide HSE leadership and support to the newly established Metals Exploration (MEX) Canada team. Reporting to the North America HSE Superintendent for Metals Exploration, you will provide technical HSE advice and support for operational exploration activities across Canada.- You will provide leadership and provide technical expertise in the management of health, hygiene, environment, security, safety, emergency response and HSE assurance related issues, processes, provisions, and initiatives for the BHP Metals Exploration country team.- Based in Saskatoon, SK Canada, regular travel will be required to enable effective relationships with the team and customers. You will enable the execution of BHP and MEX HSE related requirements and initiatives across Canada field activities.- In this role you will:
- Manage, improve, and provide expertise on safety risk management practices to improve organisational safety outcomes and performance
- Define and drive effectiveness and standardization of processes in partnership with your peers across Metals Exploration;
- Support country team in delivery of performance targets relevant to health, safety, emergency response, security, environment, and hygiene.
- Manages the coordination of HSE reporting, systems and processes at the country level and in accordance with relevant country legislation.
- Support country growth through engagement with pipeline development, identifying key HSE needs to support growth
- Support the delivery of MEX and Global HSE Strategy and key MEX HSE priorities;
- Build HSE capability and capacity within the Country team through coaching, mentoring and the provision of advice on HSE strategy, system and procedures;
- Facilitates obtaining regulatory environmental approvals for Assets/Projects
- Provides specialist/functional expertise to leadership on environment related programs/initiatives/controls to enable compliance with HSE and statutory requirements.
- About You- Experience in exploration, mining, or similar resources industry.
- Tertiary degree in a health, safety, environment or related field.
- knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of HSE related risks.
