The hourly rate: $35.29 - $41.31
**Responsibilities**
- Serve as municipality's Provincial Offences Officer for enforcement purposes regarding municipal by-laws, policies and codes.
- Buildings to ensure compliance with the OBC and relevant Municipal By-laws for the purpose of permit issuance.
- Perform inspections of small buildings required under Part 9 of the OBC and Building By-Law.
- Manage inactive open permits and deposits.
- Manage, review and update departmental communication materials.
- Adheres to the prescribed Code of Conduct for Inspectors as prescribed by the Province of Ontario.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures for the Town.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Architectural, Construction or Engineering Technology or Certificate of Qualification is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Successful completion or the ability to complete the provincial mandated examination program administered and authorized by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in: Legal Processes, House, Small Buildings, Plumbing
- All Buildings, HVAC House, Building Services, and Building Structural.
- Two (2) years related work experience is required, preferably in the construction industry or as municipal building officer.
- CBCO designation granted by the OBOA, CET designation as granted by OACETT or a MAATO as granted by AATO is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Building Code Act and Regulations regarding residential construction as well as a basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical and structural engineering design principles as related to building construction.
- Thorough understanding of technology and methodology of the construction industry
- The ability to read and understand detailed construction drawings and site plans.
- Amanda and CloudPermit permitting software experience is considered to be an asset.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Well-developed communication skills and excellent customer service skills with the ability to liaise with external and internal stakeholders, customers and members of the public.
- High degree of attention to detail and effectively able to identify errors or omissions under time constraints and ensure high-quality work within established requirements.
- Capacity to retain and recall large amounts of technical information.
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills and the ability be motivated and self-directed while working independently.
- Ability to perform under pressure during peak workload periods with competing priorities or demands.
- Physical ability to move about constructions sites, buildings under construction, able to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding and manoeuvre over uneven terrain as required during on-site inspection.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) as it relates to building inspection and a commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
- A valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence with no more than six (6) demerit points.
- Ability to participate as an effective team member and to support and project values compatible with the Town.
