Summary:
Reporting to the Program Director, Mental Health, and under the clinical direction of the Professional Practice Leader, Psychology, the Psychologist, Research coordinates research activities across various programs within the Eating Disorders Program at the St. Paul's Hospital site part of the Eating Disorders Program (Mental Health Program). The Psychologist, Research works within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with the established standards of professional practice of the College of Psychologists of British Columbia and within the vision and values of the organization. The Psychologist, Research is responsible for the development, management and provision of psychology research activities within the Eating Disorders Program including supervision of staff and providing individual and group therapy to clients.

Qualifications / Skills and Education:
**Education**:
Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from an accredited University, plus one year supervised internship. Two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Registered with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.

Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of therapeutic, diagnostic and consultation techniques. Knowledge of psychology assessment and treatment methods and tools.

Knowledge of evidence based psychological practice.

Ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.

Ability to communicate with and deal effectively with co-workers, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.

Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.

Ability to teach and provide clinical supervision. Ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Ability to operate related equipment including personal computer and related word processing and spreadsheet software.

Duties and Responsibilities:
**Research Coordination**:

- Identify research opportunities within the Eating Disorders Program and develop compelling business cases to secure program approval.
- Oversee daily research activities, establish research teams, set team schedules and guidelines, and coordinate all research team activities.
- Present and publish original psychology research within the national and international eating disorders community.**Staff Supervision, Recruitment, and Training**:

- Supervise assigned staff and clinical research teams, ensuring workload assignments align with operational requirements.
- Resolve work issues, escalating unresolved matters to the Program Director.
- Recruit staff and clinical research team members, process recruitment paperwork, conduct interviews, and make hiring recommendations to the Program Director.
- Train research assistants, demonstrating how to conduct comprehensive literature searches.**Clinical Practice and Case Management**:

- Conduct psychological assessments of referred clients, incorporating a review of client history, interviews, and tests.
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy to clients, including the development and implementation of didactic and experiential group modules.
- Provide meal support to clients and liaise with external agencies to ensure comprehensive client care.
- Develop treatment plans, participate in case management, and attend internal and external interdisciplinary meetings to ensure continuity of client care.
- Attend clinical/case conferences as a member of an interdisciplinary team for client reviews, admissions, and discharges.**Administrative Duties**:

- Participate in short and long-term planning for the Eating Disorders Program, identifying opportunities for change and formulating recommendations for quality improvement.
- Administer the operating budget for the Research area, seeking research funding, planning and reviewing expenditures, and reporting variances to the Program Director.
- Maintain client records in line with regulatory requirements and established standards, documenting client participation, psychological findings, progress notes, and reports.**Consultation, Teaching, and Supervision**:

- Provide formal and informal consultation to staff, community psychologists, other hospital team members, other health care facilities, and students, reviewing client progress, problem-solving and providing guidance in client management.
