Geotechnical / Civil Eit (23004)

We currently have openings for fulltime **Geotechnical / Civil Engineers in Training** in our GTA offices (Barrie, Mississauga, or Oshawa).

**Educational & Experience Requirements**:

- Completion of a recognized bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
- Eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.).
- Understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil / bedrock logging and classification, drilling methods, in-situ testing (i.e., SPT, CPT, shear vane, compaction, packer testing, settlement monitoring, etc.), sampling protocols, monitoring well and instrument installations, etc.
- Familiarity with software packages specific to geotechnical analysis (i.e., borehole logging, analytical software such as Rocscience®, GeoStudio®, etc.) would be an asset.
- Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions, including working in remote locations.
- Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and the willingness to work overtime, as required.
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

**Main Duties**:

- Provide technical support to a wide variety of geotechnical projects, including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, technical report writing, and proposal preparation.
- Design and conduct field investigations, including soils / bedrock drilling and logging, test pit logging, soil and bedrock characterization and sampling, monitoring well and other instrument installation and testing, etc.; as well as associated field coordination and subcontractor coordination.
- Assisting intermediate and senior staff in preparing proposals and cost estimates, analysis, and writing technical reports presenting field findings, analysis results, recommendations, etc.
- Assisting intermediate and senior staff in performing design and analytical functions on a variety of projects, including shallow and deep foundations, slope / embankment stability, retaining walls, seepage / drainage, and settlement analysis.

**Position**:

- Full time salaried position.
- Providing proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 may be a condition of employment. Exceptions to this requirement will be considered on a case-by-case basis in relation to local health guidelines and/or client requirements/regulations.
