**About the Position**
This key position leads specialized programming, with a primary objective of delivering exceptional participant experiences. You will develop and execute specific programming activities (Sport, STEM, or Arts) in a fun, energetic and playful manner, while developing the participants’ passion and skills in the specialized program field. This position works collaboratively with the Play Facilitators, Recreation Programmers (and other programming departments such as Fitness), Guest Services, and others. This position is always working towards excellence in customer experience.

**Job Type**:Part-time, Hourly, Temporary
**Term**: January 2025 - April 2025 (with the possibility of extension)

**Specific responsibilities**:

- Responsible for delivering exceptional guest experience, creating and facilitating a positive, active, and welcoming guest environment, and facilitating experiences which encourage a commitment to “play”.Develop and lead programs and activities relevant to your specialized field (Sport, STEM, or Art).
- Teach scheduled classes, beginning & ending on time; provide adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, & cool down, demonstrate how to carry out various exercises and routines
- Explain & enforce safety rules & regulations on sports, recreational activities, & use of exercise equipment
- Guide a memorable experience for guests by actively seeking opportunities to interact and facilitate the program/experience, while monitoring safe and appropriate guest behaviour and equipment use.
- Effectively communicate to colleagues and supervisors on issues related to programs, hazards/safety risks, and guest experience. Use good judgment to resolve issues in the moment and facilitate necessary follow-up.
- Track and record data as required to support the administrative needs of the program.
- Prepare and put away equipment for activities, reporting equipment issues to supervisors as needed.
- Other tasks/duties that may change upon request

**Qualifications**:

- Red Cross Youth Leader certification required.
- Experience in a formalized “leadership” role within your specialized field of instruction (Sport, STEM, Art) - i.e. _Soccer Coach_, _Hockey Team Captain_, or formalized “teaching/instruction/coaching” experience.
- Training or Certification in your specialized field of instruction is preferred.
- Coach training (i.e. NCCP Level 1) is an asset.
- You must have a playful disposition, love encouraging others of all ages to PLAY, and have the passion and the energy to do it every day
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR is an asset.
- _ Problem-solving & lesson adaptation skills _**:

- **instructors must evaluate each participant’s level of knowledge/ability and create or adapt an appropriate program plan to meet the participants’ individual needs.
- _ Speaking skills _**:

- **instructors must be able to communicate confidently to be able to explain program activities to participants, as well as motivate them verbally during the activity.
