**Purpose**:
The Environmental Superintendent oversees the environmental team. They are responsible to coordinate the teams’ activities to ensure that environmental standards and requirements are enforced in all site operations. The Superintendent plays an advisory role with other departments.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and coordinate the implementation of environmental procedures and programs for the entire site.
- Maintain good relationships with government agencies, represent the company in government inspections, be available for emergency assignments.
- Coordinate a comprehensive environmental strategy with mine operating departments and liaise with corporate and regional environmental management.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of the environmental management system.
- Coordination and management of environmental projects and technical studies as required.
- Ensure that all Newmont MSW employees and contractors receive environmental training.
- Ensure site maintains compliance with permits and approvals issued by government authorities.
- Coordinate and deliver timely regulatory reporting requirements to all applicable government agencies.
- Ensure that accurate records and report data from all analyses and tests are produced in the prescribed timeframe. Make detailed observations; analyze data and interpret results.
- Organize, plan and coordinate environmental emergency drills.
- Ensures environmental incidents are reported and investigated and that recommendations are made and implemented to prevent similar events from happening again.
- Ensure continuous improvement of results and the means used to achieve them.
- Solve problems related to the sector of activity and recommend measures to improve efficiencies and productivity.
- Manage staff, evaluate work performance and oversee employee development in the Environmental department.
- Manage the Environmental Departments’ operating costs.
- Know, follow and support company rules and policies, particularly regarding health and safety.
- Help implement and maintain Newmont standards and coordinate activities in their sector.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and coordination of mine closure activities including planning and coordinating reclamation activities.
- Participate in Corporate risk assessments and audits when available.
- Participate environmental training sessions, workshops etc.
- Develop succession plans and provide environmental personnel with coaching to ensure development plans align with staffing needs.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor of science (Environmental Engineering, biology, geology other).
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in the environmental field and at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Leadership and strategic vision
- Ability to manage and develop employees
- Strong understanding of applicable environmental legislation and regulatory framework.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Adaptability
- Critical thinking skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with timely and cost-effective delivery.

**Working Conditions**:
**The rotation schedule for this position is 4 days on and 3 days off.**
