**Your Opportunity**:
This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced addiction counsellor to join the Adult Addiction and Mental Health team at the Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park Addiction & Mental Health Clinics within the Adult Community Services portfolio. Working as a member of an interdisciplinary team and reporting to the Care Manager of the East Suburban clinics, the Addiction Counsellor III is primarily responsible for direct clinical service in the area(s) of screening, assessment, and treatment of clients experiencing problems related to substances, gambling and co-occurring addiciton and mental health problems. Treatment is provided through the use of individual and group counselling. Utilizing evidence-based practice, the Addiction Counsellor III will provide community-based screening, assessment, treatment planning and crisis management. Group facilitation skills and concurrent capability are requirements for this position. This position provides community outreach. The Addiction Counsellor III works collaboratively with the client and other health and social service providers in treatment planning and transitioning of the client's care. The Addiction Counsellor III, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, ensures that clinical services are delivered safely, are of high quality, and align with the Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care for clients, families, and community partners.

**Description**:
As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

**Required Qualifications**:
Bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum 3 years' of relevant addiction and mental health experience. Basic Life Support certification.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Knowledge and experience with providing individual and group psychotherapy using an evidence-based modality. Non-violent crisis intervention training and suicide risk management training. Experience with electronic medical record.
