Under the direction of management, the electrical estimator is to plan, administer and be responsible for the accurate execution of a complete estimate from inception to final bid submittal. This position will effectively coordinate plans, specifications, addendums and communication with general contractors, distributors, consultants and subtrades so the estimate can be completed in an complete, accurate, efficient, organized and profit oriented manner.
- **Roles and Responsibilities**:_
- Provide estimates based on a complete understanding and interpretation of systems from provided drawings for review by management
- Review bid packages, blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Develop layouts derived from project drawings according to building construction codes, project specifications and standards
- Prepare and calculate quantity take-off(s) and layouts detailing all the materials and supplies necessary for the contract to achieve specification based off bid packages, specifications and drawings.
- Ensure accurate and complete quantities and costs of materials, labour and equipment required for projects according to contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications. Review & compile takeoffs for addendums, rfis, etc.
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors etc. for quotes, package pricing and return quotations
- Review all takeoffs, counts, quotes for technical and numerical accuracy
- Coordinate with engineers, consultants, architects and contractors as necessary.
- Acquire return quotations from manufacturers and suppliers for all required material and equipment from distributors.
- Enter all required and acquired information into estimating software
- Evaluate bids for bonding, insurance or special requirements
- Prepare and keep accurate, organized files of all documents.
- Attend pre-bid meetings for clarification and attend site visits to determine accurate understanding of project scope.
- Build long term relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Perform other duties as required
- **Required Skills**:_
- Journeyman Trades Person (Electrical Interprovincial Red Seal) with 3+ years field experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building construction codes and regulations (e.g. Electrical Codes).
- Advanced knowledge of systems (electrical, mechanical, communication, security).
- Advanced skills in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Exceptional, verbal and written communication skills combined with ability to maintain a high degree of customer service and satisfaction.
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
