We are looking for a Disease Resistant Breeder to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Saskatoon.

Disease Resistant Breeder is a specialized professional who possesses expertise in germplasm screening and evaluation, donor characterization, mapping populations, introgression of resistance genes, and pathogen characterization. Their work is critical to the development of disease-resistant InVigor hybrids and the breeding program's continued success and market share maintenance.
**As a Disease Resistant Breeder, you create chemistry by...**:
- Evaluating canola parental lines, hybrids and exotic germplasm for resistance in field, greenhouse and growth chambers against important canola diseases in Western Canada.
- Characterizing new resistance genes in different sources for canola diseases, mapping these genes, and developing hybrids with resistance to important canola diseases.
- Initiating and/or writing disease resistance projects for the greenhouse related to new resistance donor characterization, mapping, and introgression into parental lines.
- Collecting, isolating and characterization of field pathogen isolates into different pathotypes on different resistance genes for tracking changes in virulence and for screening purposes in greenhouse and field situations.
- Designing specific field experiments and layout plans for disease nurseries and completing disease data analysis and presentation to breeders for advanced selections.
**If you have...**:
- A MSc in Breeding or Plant Pathology with minimum of 10 years’ experience in Disease Resistance Breeding and/or Ph.D (desirable).
- Experience working with plant diseases and developing resistance in a breeding program.
- Experience with agricultural plants and plant pathogens and working in lab, greenhouse and small plot experiments.
- Knowledge of pathogen identification, fungal isolations and culturing in sterile environments.
- Skills in experiment design and statistical analysis.
- Understanding of plant genetics/breeding and modern breeding tools.
