**Youth Mental Health Coordinator - Deux-Montagnes -**_ **(onsite at Lake of Two Mountains High School)**_

**ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND**

4Korners is a registered Canadian charitable community-based organization founded in 2005. We connect with English-speaking individuals of the Laurentians with programs and services to meet their identified needs in a secure and inclusive environment. We work collectively to serve and enrich the lives of communities in the Laurentians region. 4Korners offers a wide range of programs that focus on healthy lifestyles, mental health, foster creativity, and provide support for youth, families, individuals, seniors, and caregivers.

During the past years, 4Korners has expanded with new programs throughout the Laurentians. Along with our Head Office, we run an Activity Centre in Deux-Montagnes and have four satellite offices in the region with multiple services in many small towns.

With a unique and ambitious mandate covering a large territory, we are looking for a professional and passionate **Youth Mental Health Coordinator** to join our team. You will represent 4Korners by supporting and _coordinating activities aimed for youth in the high school and community_) while adhering to the overall mission and values of the organization. It is a community outreach position that requires onsite work at the high school and occasionally out of our activity centre.

**OBJECTIVE**

The project aims to engage and support youth within their school, community and families to foster positive youth development. By being an active individual in the youth environment, the project strives to empower youth and improve access to mental health resources and services in order to better meet their needs.

**RESPONSIBILTIES**

**Youth Mental Health Activities - 70% of hours**
- Coordinate and facilitate onsite activities for youth in Lake of Two Mountains High school/Deux-Montagnes as per the workplan.
- Co-facilitate Dependence Program in Lake of Two Mountains High school.
- To develop, execute, and report on all youth geared activities, outreach, and services under the Youth and Mental Health program in the MRC of Deux-Montagnes.
- Co-facilitate the Youth in Action committee in the MRC of Deux-Montagnes with youth and pertinent partners.

**Outreach - 20% of hours**
- Represent the English-speaking community and 4Korners in different tables and committees.
- Create and equip partners with knowledge on youth needs, information, and support.
- Collaborate with partners in improving the services offered to youth.
- Disseminate relevant 4Korners information to partners and community.
- Represent 4Korners at kiosks or special events.

**General Administration - 10%**
- Participate in mandatory trainings and team meetings.
- Ensure that all required reporting is tracked and submitted by deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with the 4Korners team.
- Support the Executive Director and Youth and Mental Health Project Lead.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Post-secondary degree in social sciences or relevant fields; **and**relevant years of experience in working with the youth, community, mental health, and organizing activities.
- Mental health education/literacy.
- Demonstrated ability to build successful relationships with stakeholders.
- IT - Computer literacy

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS (mandatory)**
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and French;
- Knowledge of conceptual models of mental health care (e.g., Trauma-informed care, strength-based approach)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in remote locations;
- Autonomy, flexibility, solution-oriented and ability to make decisions.
- Detailed and organized.
- High degree of resourcefulness, communication, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary team environment;
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.

**OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (assets for the role**
- Experience working in partnership with other community organisations
- Experience in health and social service and/or community
- Experience working in the non-profit sector
- Eco systemic lens in youth development (Knowledge on the impact of social, cultural and family systems on health outcomes), Skilled in child/youth development and the emergence of mental health issues in these critical developmental stages.
- First Aid / CPR training

**Compensation**: $19 - $24/ hr. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

**Hours of Work**: Minimum required of 26 hours per week.

**Schedule**: Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasionally on weekends.

**Location**: Deux-Montagnes, QC.
