**Niiwin Wendaanimak Wellness Program (FOUR WINDS)**
**INDIGENOUS PEER LEADER - 2 POSITIONS**
**Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre** (Parkdale Queen West CHC) is a dynamic, community-based health
care organization serving mid-west downtown Toronto. Offering a broad range of services, including primary health care,
dental care, harm reduction, health promotion, counselling, and community development programming, we are also

**Programme Overview**: The Niiwin Wendaanimak (Four Winds) Aboriginal Wellness Program supports people who
identify as Aboriginal with a focus to support those who are homeless, have experienced homelessness and/or under
- housed. The program is housed at the Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre, Queen West site and provides
culturally specific programs including access to healing ceremonies, health education, case management supports,
access to primary care and harm reduction supports.
**General Responsibilities**:
- Assists with programme shopping, meal preparation and budget adherence.
- Assists in programme activities and in general programme agenda e.g. supporting crafts, games, drumming.***
- Assists with the traditional aspects of the program by being a helper for the Elder.
- Attends meetings and skill-building workshops.***
- Helps in planning and preparation of new programme activities.***
- Supports participants in the programme and supports programme goals***
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Have experience of working within Indigenous communities from a philosophy of non-interference and harm
reduction.
- ** **Willingness to work in a harm reduction program.
- ** **Gets along with people, does not judge and willing to learn.
- ** **Volunteering or previous work experience is an asset.
This position is for up to 9 months & may be extended up to 2 years. There is a weekly peer rotation - Peers will alternate
work every Monday 12-3 & Tuesday from 9:00am-1:30 pm at our Parkdale site, 1229 Queen St West. Thursdays 11-3 or
12-3 with supervision scheduled weekly for each peer & Fridays 9-2 pm at 168 Bathurst Site. Workshops & planning
meetings are held throughout the year that you will be paid to attend.
