**Overview**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain the facility at a high level of sanitation, cleanliness, and tidiness on a daily, weekly & seasonal basis:_
- Maintain floors & carpets (i.e. sweeps, vacuums & mops) throughout the church & parish hall, including under the pews, washrooms, and stairwells.
- Cleans & sanitizes washrooms and restocks disposables (i.e.: soaps, sanitizer, toilet paper and paper towels). Disinfect as required.
- Wash and wipe down windows, doors, glass doors, fixtures, walls, and surfaces throughout premises, using both step & extended ladder as needed.
- Regular dusting required, but not limited to all wood surfaces in the church, sacristy, statues, and windowsills.
- Maintain adequate inventory of church wares, cleaning supplies, toiletries and lighting (e.g. soap, toilet paper, paper towels, candles, etc.)
- Verify receipt and condition of inventories and supplies.
- Gather and dispose garbage, recycling, compost & all waster materials from church, parish hall and throughout the property perimeters, parking lot, lawn, and gardens.
- Put out and retrieve all garbage, organic waste, and recycling bins as per scheduled collection dates.
- Maintains outdoor areas (church and rectory), including picking up litter, sweeping and gardening and landscaping duties & watering of all indoor and outdoor plants) as required.
- Walkabout inside and outside church grounds to check for safety hazards such as lighting, steps, handrails in good condition, no slip/trip hazards, litter, etc.
- Occasional clearance of snow, removal of ice and salting from entrances and exits in emergency situations. Snow Removal company is in place.
- Removal of old posts from church bulletin boards in church lobby & maintenance of special collection envelopes.
- Sets up and arranges hall and church for events and meetings, as required, including set-up and dismantle of tables and chairs.
- Prepare Altar for liturgical celebrations.
- Assist with set-up for special liturgical seasons and celebrations (Christmas, Easter, Baptisms, Weddings, as well as other special parish events).
- Responsible for monitoring equipment maintenance and repair. Notifies the pastor in case of any damages or repairs that may be required in the church property.
- Monitor Parking Lot for illegally parked vehicles and advise pastor as required.
- Other duties (such as pick-up, deliveries, etc.)
- Simple repair & maintenance duties:_
- Performs scheduled weekly, monthly, semi-annual, or annual janitorial duties (e.g., painting, window washing, etc.,) as directed by the pastor in accordance with parish maintenance schedule (cleaning and repairing of pews & kneelers).
- Occasional small repairs, and other duties as required, when requested by the pastor.
- Respond to emergency calls and prioritize maintenance requests as directed by pastor.
- Follow all health & safety regulations of the Archdiocese of Toronto
- Maintain landscape and property (whatever is not contracted out)
- Observe appearance and condition of premises & equipment; report anticipated and preventative repair situations or contractors to the Pastor.

**General Requirements**:

- High school diploma is an asset.
- Prior maintenance, custodial services and grounds keeping skills required.
- A capacity to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision and work cooperatively with staff, clergy and volunteers of the church, related organizations, and external contractors.
- Mechanically inclined and proficient with use of small hand tools and other related equipment such as lawn movers, snow blowers, etc.
- Ability to assess immediate maintenance and custodial needs and to prioritize tasks.
- Must be willing to work a variety of days and hours, including weekends, as assigned.
- Requires standing for extended periods, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting to 50 lbs.
- Strict adherence to scheduled working hours.
- Requires daily completion of timesheet (ie: sign-in and sign-out)
