**About Our Opportunity**:
This position reports to the Director of Community Outreach and Inclusion.

If you are a culturally competent relationship builder and a collaborative partner with strong connections to Mi’kmaw communities, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

Situated within the Policy and Corporate Services division, this position works with department staff and Mi’kmaq throughout the province to advance Mi’kmaw culture.

You will serve as a community liaison, providing program navigation and connections to funding opportunities. You will also support programs and legislation related to Mi’kmaw language and culture preservation, as well as other Mi’kmaw related initiatives across all CCTH divisions.

You will work both strategically and operationally to enhance the Department’s work by collaborating and cultivating relationships with community leaders and key partners such as Elders, Mi’kmaw artists, cultural workers, knowledge holders, and organizations.

In this role, you will also lead initiatives related to education and training through activities such as a Treaty Education Speakers Bureau, learning sessions, and support for corporate equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives within CCTH and across government.

This position serves on, and in some cases leads, a variety of internal and external committees and working groups. You will represent the Department on intra-department committees, cross government collaborations, and with external partners. In this role you will also represent CCTH as a member of the Treaty Education Implementation Committee.

The results of your work will help to increase the visibility and appreciation of Mi’kmaw culture and strengthen policies, programs, and services by contributing to the understanding of Mi’kmaw culture, heritage, and language for all Nova Scotians.

The role will also require travel within the province, including but not limited to Mi’kmaw communities.

**About You**:
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor’s degree plus five years' related experience, or a master’s degree plus 3 years’ experience. Equivalences such as course work, volunteer, or lived experience related to community engagement and/or program management will also be considered.
- Extensive knowledge of Mi’kmaq and/or other Indigenous ways of teaching, learning, and knowing.
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline including Mi’kmaq studies, Indigenous studies, social sciences, business, education, etc.
- Experience working in and with Mi’kmaq or other Indigenous communities.
- Champion of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) and the ability to lead with that lens, as well as a lens of Etuaptmumk - Two-Eyed Seeing.
- Ability to develop and cultivate strong relationships within the Mi’kmaw community such as Mi’kmaw cultural organizations, Mi’kmaq artists, musicians, educators, Elders, knowledge holders, and community leaders.
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication and community engagement skills, including the ability to build healthy collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
- Experience working both strategically and day-to-day operationally.
- Experience in managing projects, meeting work deliverables, developing and delivering reports and presentations, and measuring progress to ensure goals are being met.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong emotional intelligence and diplomacy skills.
- Ability to speak Mi’kmaw is an asset.
