The Water, Fisheries and Coastal Policy & Planning Division brings together program areas responsible for the Watershed Security Strategy and associated Fund, Wild Salmon Strategy, and Coastal Marine Strategy. It works to support functioning and resilient marine, aquatic, and coastal ecosystems that support a diversity of economic activities and provide the foundation for vibrant and thriving coastal communities and cultures.

The Water Quality Guidelines Science Specialist provides provincial level expertise and scientific support and authoritative advice to Ministry staff and external partners involved in managing BC’s water. This position develops water quality guidelines, which is a long-term program critical to the achievement of priority watershed stewardship goals. The Water Quality Guidelines Science Specialist also provides technical guidance to teams across ministries in the completion of environmental and watershed assessments under a range of statutes.

**Job Requirements**:
**Education, Experience, & Designation**
- Degree(s) in environmental sciences, biology, aquatic ecology, biochemistry, toxicology:

- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience, OR
- Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience, OR
- Ph.D. and 1 year of related experience.- Membership in good standing, or eligibility for membership, as a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) with the College of Applied Biologists of BC.
- Experience in scientific data analysis (including statistical techniques) and interpretation.
- Experience writing technical reports and communicating scientific information.
