Resident Care Manager

Vision Nursing and Rest Home is a beautiful nursing and rest home in Sarnia Ontario. We are a progressive thinking and family oriented home looking to add to our family. Here at Vision the care of our residents and satisfaction of our staff come first. The Resident Care Manager is a new position to our home.
Reporting directly to the Director of Care the Resident Care Manager is a frontline working manager position that provides supervision and leadership to Personal Support Workers (PSW) and Resident Care Aides (RSA) on days and evenings plus occasional nights.
Some duties include:
- staff direction, monitoring and re-education
- oversight of staff compliment and re-assignment when required to ensure fair and equitable coverage for care.
- coordination and facilitation of home unit care huddles
- Conducts walk through rounds at strategic times so that resident care meets or exceeds best practice. (meal rounds, care rounds, safety rounds).
- Provision of immediate coaching and training to PSWs, RSAs and others as required related to any aspect of care and safety excellence.
- Oversees PSW and RSA schedules and signs off on time cards and exceptions.
- Provides additional one on one training for new PSWs and RSAs related to personal care and safety measures as per job descriptions.
- Conducts timely performance reviews for the PSW and RSAs with support as required from the DOC
- Plans and conducts PSW and RSA department meetings as scheduled.

- Are an RPN or an allied Health Profession with a minimum of 5 years of management from of front line workers in health care setting.
- Have extensive knowledge of MOHLTC regulations and legislation
- Post-secondary education in gerontology with a minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience in working with individuals in long-term care setting e.g. Diploma or Certificate courses such as those offered at community colleges
- Proven ability to manage scheduling of large departments and working with multiple collective agreements
- Computer skills with efficiency in Point Click Care and Microsoft programs.
- Ability to lead in a diverse workplace
- Excellence in Client Centered Care Train the Trainer is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of Best practice guidelines in care of the elderly and IPAC
- Fundamentals in Palliative Care, CAPCE, and PIECES would be an asset

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
