Durham College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success. Professional and Part-Time Learning (PPL) requires a part-time facilitator to teach a section of the course (s) entitled _Anatomy & Physiology I _and/or _Anatomy & Physiology II. _These courses will be delivered online.
**COURSE DESCRIPTIONS**:
**_ Anatomy & Physiology I_** examines the normal structure and function of the human adult. The course begins with an orientation to the human body, the levels of organization within the body and the inter-related and interdependence of body systems. The concepts of metabolism, fundamental physiological needs and homeostasis are introduced. All knowledge is then applied to the study of the integumentary, skeletal, muscle and the nervous systems.
**_ Anatomy and Physiology II_** continues to examine the normal structure and function of the human adult. The student relates knowledge gained in Anatomy and Physiology I to the study of the endocrine, circulatory, digestive, respiratory, urinary and reproductive systems. The concepts of water, electrolyte and acid-base balance are re-examined building on the foundation established in Anatomy and Physiology I. Learner preparation and learning activities are designed to promote critical thinking.
**The responsibilities of Durham College Part-Time Facilitators include, but are not limited to**:
- Creating a positive learning environment that accommodate students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles;
- Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;
- Effectively using educational technologies to support learning as well as managing and posting grades;
- Developing curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning;
- Ensuring that all course content is current and relevant;
- Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and
- Working effectively with students, the program team and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Minimum of five years of recent nursing experience that relates directly to the topic being taught;
- Holds a Master’s degree (or higher) in Nursing or Education;
- Holds current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Experience directly related to teaching anatomy and physiology to health professionals;
- Superior skills in the areas of verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, critical thinking and problem solving;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Track record in meeting deadlines;
- Experienced in the use of technology to support student learning and manage grades;
- Self-motivated and independent worker who also functions well in a team environment;
- Committed to life-long learning;
- Understanding of the Ontario community college system.
