- Hourly pay of $23.50; 25 hours/week with possibility to increase depending on availability and ability to contribute to other projects

**About Us**

Nourish is in Punamu'kwati'j, or so-called Dartmouth, part of Mi'kmak'i, the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi'kmaq peoples. While this is where our offices are located, we support food work from Unama'ki to Kespukwitk. As Treaty people, we strive to work under the Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1752 by incorporating Mi'kmaw values, like cooperation, stewardship of nature and sharing, into what we do, but recognize that we have much learning and unlearning still to do. Nourish recognizes the inequities connected to colonization and commit to working towards creating an equitable, diverse, and inclusive and community for all.

Nourish Nova Scotia is a registered charity and recognized provincial partner for healthy food programs. Our goal is to support the nutritional well-being of children and youth and to build their food knowledge and skills so they can feed themselves well into a healthier future. Nourish provides leadership and support to create healthy food environments for Nova Scotia children and youth.

**Position Summary**

Nourish Nova Scotia is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Community Food Facilitator. The Community Food Facilitator will work with community organizations, informed by school administrators and Halifax Regional Centre for Education staff, to streamline, modify and augment food offerings in schools (initially focused on a cluster of North End Halifax schools that do not have full kitchen or cafeteria facilities) and to expand food access for children and youth in other community spaces.

**Specific Duties**
- Partnership development and collaboration, including through facilitated gatherings to identify assets and opportunities.
- Report regularly to share outcomes, successes, and areas for improvement.
- Work closely with school administrators, school-based staff, and community partners to strengthen scheduling, preparation, delivery and serving of food in schools.
- Provide learning opportunities and resources to community partners.
- Support the logistics of food ordering, safe storage, and delivery.
- Identify opportunities for better value for money.
- Promote youth engagement by identifying opportunities for youth participation in food programs.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination.
- Facilitate food preparation and serving.

**Skills & Qualifications**
- Experience in community engagement, including convening and facilitating group discussions (in-person and/or virtual).
- Experience in asset-based community development, food projects and/or neighbourhood-based organizing.
- Demonstrated passion for improving food access for children and youth.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity and comfort using digital communication tools (i.e. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, virtual meeting platforms).
- Adaptable to new challenges in an ever-changing work environment.
- Proficiency in another language (e.g. Arabic, French).
- Experience working in school settings.
- Food service experience - e.g., as a caterer, cook or kitchen assistant.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: $23.50 per hour

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Dartmouth, NS B3A 4B2
