Dufferin Child and Family Services is a multi-service agency providing Children’s Mental Health, Child Protection and Developmental Support.

**1 Permanent Full-Time - Youth Support Worker**

The Youth Support Worker will take a forward-thinking approach to assisting RSG youth in the transition from care to adulthood and independent living. As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in providing resources and support to children/youth, resource parents, and kinship providers.

**We are seeking: an innovative individual with the ability to**:

- Assist youth in RSG agreements to reach their full potential in education, financial literacy, life skill strengthening, sense of belonging, and adulthood transition preparation.
- Strengthen family interactions and stability by providing intensive support to children/youth in care and kinship placements.
- Organize transportation for children-in-care/kinship placements to access visits with parents, siblings, or other family members; provides supervision of visits to document interactions and ensure children’s safety.
- Provide appropriate parent modelling where appropriate.
- Support in searching for Kin and assist in identifying appropriate Kin/Kith to assess and meet the needs of child(ren)/youth.
- Develop and facilitate group programs for children/youth in care and RSG clients; participate in Youth Engagement Events when necessary.
- Work closely with Child Protection Workers to develop, work towards, and achieve agreed upon goals and target areas.
- Ensure strict confidentiality is upheld and is handled with the utmost care.
- Ensure case notes are clear, concise, and uploaded into CPIN within 24 hours.;
- Functions within agency policies and procedures and consistently displays professional conduct.
- Assumes any other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- CYW diploma from a recognized college and in good standing with the Ontario Association of Child & Youth Care (OACYC) or similar professional association.
- Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA) and Ministry of Children and Youth Services Regulations and Standards and Guidelines.
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of social and psychological dynamics related to child development and behavior management (Attachment/Trauma Theory, Child Developmental/Resiliency Theories, Emotional Regulation, Critical Reflective practice and principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion).
- Strong behavior management and child management skills, including an understanding of individual, family, and group dynamics.
- Understanding and experience in assessing and assisting families regarding trauma resultant from childhood physical, sexual, neglect and/or emotional abuse.
- Strong analytical and assessment skills, able to process a high volume of information quickly.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultures across the agency and community.
- Strong computer skills and the willingness to learn current and new software used by the agency.
- Experience working closely with children and youth facilitating programs are considered an asset.
- Flexibility in work schedule is required.
- Occasional travel outside the region is required; occasional requirements to work evenings and weekends may be required Valid driver’s license, insurance, and use of own vehicle for agency purposes.
