**JOB OPPORTUNITY**
**Singing Frog Early Childhood Educator, Full-time (37 hrs per week)**

The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) is a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous early learning and child care. BCACCS undertakes research, develops training and resources, and provides services and leadership to support Indigenous communities throughout BC to create high quality, culturally respectful, spiritually enriching community child care services that are based in the child’s culture, language and history.

**Job Summary**

The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society is seeking a full time Early Childhood Educator (ECE) at Singing Frog

Aboriginal Head Start. The ECE will work in a team setting to collaboratively develop and deliver a play
- based program. Singing Frog’s program focuses on providing safe, healthy, and culturally rich opportunities for children to participate in indoor and land-based experiences. The ECE will participate in all aspects of the AHS preschool program and ensure that the program meets or exceeds all licensing regulations and reporting requirements. Singing Frog is a place of learning for children and educators, and staff are encouraged to participate in on-going professional development to ensure that they are always at the forefront of wise practice within the sector.

- Implementing developmentally appropriate activities and experiences
- Supervising children and ensuring a safe environment
- Using appropriate guiding and caring for groups of children
- Encouraging children’s learning and development of positive sense of self
- Documenting children’s learning experiences
- Working effectively as a member of a team
- Creating a warm and inviting environment for families

**Skills &**
**Qualifications**
- Valid ECE Certificate and Certificate to Practice
- Minimum 2 years experience in a child care setting, but will consider ECEA students working towards their Certificate to Practice
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required
- Demonstrated computer literacy in Microsoft Word
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to work independently and work as a member of a team
- Ability to work in a culturally safe manner

**Additional**

**Qualifications**:

- Post Basic Education or Certificate to Practice
- Experience in Responsive Curriculum and Pedagogical Narration
- Food Safe Certificate
- Previous experience in Aboriginal Head Start or other Indigenous Cultural

Programs
- Indigenous Language speaker or Knowledge Holder
- Class 5 Driver’s License

**Conditions**: Must reside in Metro Vancouver. Must be able to work on site at Singing Frog Preschool.

Must be available to work Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and occasional hours for special events in addition. Successful applicants must agree to a criminal record check.

**Salary Range**:$22.00 - $24.00/hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience). Our certified
ECE educators also receive the ministry Wage Enhancement in addition to the hourly wage. Extended health plan and pension plan available after a 3-month probationary period.

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
