Opal Family Services is a non profit charitable organization that has been operating in Fredericton since 1984 providing respite and support services to families who have a child or adult dependent with disabilities. The goal of our Kids Club program is to provide an inclusive social recreation program with tailored support to children and youth with disabilities while offering quality respite care for their family.

**Kids Club Facilitator - Job Description**

**Position Summary**

Opal Family Services is a not for profit, charitable organization that provides support and programs to families who have a child or adult dependent with an intellectual disability. Opal has been serving families in the greater Fredericton area for over 35 years.

The kids club facilitator report to the Executive Director, Erica Young, and works collaboratively with fellow staff and volunteers at Opal Family Services to design and deliver an inclusive program for kids with special needs. This program also provides quality respite for families.

We are looking for someone to join a small and ambitious team of dedicated staff who provide exceptional service to families with special needs in the Fredericton area. We pride ourselves on our creative, inclusive and friendly working environment. This is a great opportunity to work in a supportive team, gain experience, and have the opportunity to assist in program development and expansion.

**Responsibilities**
- Coordinating volunteers and their roles within the Kids Club Program
- Providing assistance, guidance, and direction to volunteers
- Assisting with problem solving and crisis management
- Working closely with parents/caregivers, schools, and other professionals to provide a safe and successful experience for participants
- Coordinating programming and outing logistics
- Designing a wide variety of crafts, games, indoor and outdoor activities, skits, quiet activities, and outings.
- Keeping accurate records of the children participating in the program.
- Ensuring safe work practices, reporting any hazards, incidents, or near misses.
- Ensuring ongoing and open communication with parents and caregivers to address any issues that arise during the program.
- Fundraising

**Skills and Qualities**

Essential:

- Well organized and able to independently manage tasks and work plan
- Excellent communication skills
- Drivers license and $2 million liability insurance to drive children
- Demonstrates kindness and patience with children
- Computer skills including Word and Excel
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- Valid Criminal Record Check

Assets:

- Experience in the non-profit sector
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs
- Education in the area of Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Service Counsellor, Child and Youth Care or related fields.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 5-20 per week

**Salary**: $15.00-$18.00 per hour
