We are actively looking to fill the following full time role at our **Levack Mine location in Levack, Ontario.**
- **Underground Supervisor (1 Position)**

**Scope of the role**

Supervises and coordinates activities of shaft and underground workers on an assigned shift. The supervisor is responsible to determine fitness for duty, request training for employee; plan, assign and direct work; provide feedback and appraise worker performance; reward and discipline workers; address complaints and resolve problems.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Directly supervise a number of assigned employees and carry out responsibilities in accordance with KGHM policies and applicable legislation;
- Coordinate mining activities to ensure production schedules are met and quality of product meets specifications;
- Take responsibility for aspects of health and safety, as well as environmental matters, including but not limited to weekly and monthly compliance requirements;
- Inspect equipment and workplaces daily to ensure the safety of the workers and drive operational performance;
- Complete field level risk assessments daily and participate in task level risk assessments as required, to identify hazards and ensure controls are in place to reduce risk;
- Develop or revise standard operating practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards;
- Resolve workers grievances or escalate unsettled grievances to the General Foreman for action;
- Interpret and communicate company policies, hazards, and general information to workers. Interpret specifications and job work orders to workers and assign duties;
- Recommend measures to improve productivity, equipment performance and/or utilization and mine design;
- Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems. Escalate matters to the General Foreman as required;
- Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals, including but not limited to annual performance reviews;
- Maintain log books, time and production records;
- Interact with other supervisors and planners on a daily basis to prioritize and coordinate work and mining equipment to execute the weekly planned activities;
- Lead and/or participate in daily and monthly meetings as required;
- Initiate and lead Incident Investigations, identify direct/indirect causes and make recommendations for improvements.

**Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge**
- **Previous Related Work Experience Required**:

- Five to seven years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**2. Minimum Education Required**:

- University degree or Certification from a College or Technical School;
- **Basic Hard Rock Common Core and Supervisory Common Core required.**

**3. Special Skills and/or Knowledge Required**:

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate both verbally and written with all levels of the organization;
- Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation 854, as well as other applicable legislation and regulations.

**4. Special Equipment/Computer Knowledge Required**:

- Computer skills required, including moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

**Experience**:

- underground mining: 5 years (preferred)
