$69,294 to $91,732 (plus an annual specific duty allowance of $2000. Salary is currently under review, pending the implementation of the new collective agreement.)

The Parole Officer’s responsibilities include guiding the progress of offenders through a progression from most restrictive to least restrictive controls and from institutions to community supervision. They ensure that legal and policy requirements for reintegration are met as well as manage the reintegration of offenders throughout their sentences while trying to maintain public safety.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field that focuses on understanding and assessing human behaviour.

OR

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and acceptable correctional experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

✔️*Experience in formally assessing human behaviour.

✔️*Experience in each of the following, with the aim of changing human behaviour:

- Interviewing;
- Motivating;
- Counselling;
- Making referrals or recommendations, and;
- Identifying needs for intervention.

Note:

- Experience refers to a well-defined role within a social services or correctional organization. The minimum experience requirement is of approximately three to four months.
