Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHASS). Sheridan seeks part-time professors to teach in the following courses within the Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing & Publishing:
**PUBL33122 Publishing**: Advanced Copy Editing

Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Creative Writing & Publishing is the only degree program in Canada that fuses creative writing & publishing.

**Master’s Degree or higher in one of the following areas**: Fine Arts (Creative Writing), English, Comparative Literature, Publishing, or a related discipline
Demonstrated record of editing published works in diverse genres and media, and evidence of expertise or professional development in the areas of publishing and/or editing is required;
A minimum of 3 years relevant practical and professional experience required in traditional, current and emergent publishing environments and a thorough theoretical and historical understanding of the traditional writing and publishing industry in Canada and beyond.
Experience in teaching at the post-secondary level is required.
Demonstrated interest in promoting underrepresented voices and perspectives through creative work, within the publishing industry, or through teaching.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrable ability to effectively facilitate learning with a broad range of students.
Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.

What You’ll be Doing

Delivering course curriculum in classroom, which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques;
Creating an effective environment for learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles.
Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and reflective of best practices in teaching and learning.
Developing appropriate strategies and tools to assess student performance that are consistent with the learning outcomes of the course and address multiple learning styles.
Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the applied learning process.
Ensuring that students are aware of course and program learning outcomes, learning strategies and evaluation techniques. Providing individual tutoring and academic counselling, and evaluating student progress/achievement within assigned courses.
