As part of Canada’s foreign affairs and development efforts, the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) champions and funds research and innovation within and alongside developing regions to drive global change. IDRC invests in high quality-research in developing countries, encourages knowledge sharing for greater uptake and use, and mobilizes global alliances to build a more sustainable and inclusive world.

The Vice President, Programs and Partnerships provides leadership, vision and strategic direction for IDRC’s programming to support research in developing countries which contributes to their development goals. Reporting to the President, this critical leadership role oversees the development and implementation of program strategies and priorities to ensure effective program development, planning, and management in a manner that encourages sound stewardship of public funds and resources, promotes accountability for results, and which contributes to the effective achievement of IDRC’s Strategic 2030 and its key objectives. The Vice-President leads and directs a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated professionals and collaborates with colleagues across the Centre.

We are seeking to appoint a visionary strategic leader with significant experience in international development and research. Experienced in developing and delivering program and research strategies internationally, they will be able to translate research to meaningful and scalable impact. They will possess a PhD in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of applicable education and experience. They will also be an experienced external representative and thought leader, able to establish collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Bilingualism in English and French is required.

Dans le cadre des efforts déployés par le Canada en matière d’affaires étrangères et de développement, le Centre de recherches pour le développement international (CRDI) soutient et finance la recherche et l’innovation au sein et aux côtés des régions en voie de développement afin de favoriser le changement à l’échelle mondiale. Le CRDI investit dans la recherche de haute qualité dans les pays en développement, le partage de connaissances pour en renforcer sa mise en œuvre et son utilisation, et mobilise des alliances mondiales pour construire un monde plus durable et inclusif.

La personne vice-présidente, Programmes et partenariats, assure le leadership, la vision et l'orientation stratégique de la programmation du CRDI afin de soutenir la recherche dans les pays en développement, ce qui contribue à la réalisation de leurs objectifs de développement. Sous l'autorité de la présidente, ce rôle de leadership essentiel consiste à superviser l'élaboration et la mise en œuvre des stratégies et des priorités de la programmation afin d'assurer l'efficacité de l'élaboration, de la planification et de la gestion des programmes, de façon à encourager une saine gestion des ressources et fonds publics, qui favorise la responsabilisation à l'égard des résultats et qui contribue à la réalisation efficace de la Stratégie 2030 du CRDI et de ses principaux objectifs. La personne vice-présidente est également chargé de superviser les partenariats qui offrent la possibilité de mobiliser des alliances pour produire un impact et accroître les ressources disponibles pour la recherche. La personne vice-présidente dirige une équipe multidisciplinaire de professionnels dévoués et collabore avec des collègues de l'ensemble du Centre.

Nous cherchons à nommer une personne qui soit une leader visionnaire et stratégique possédant une expérience significative en développement international et en recherche. Une personne expérimentée dans l’élaboration et la mise en œuvre de programmes et de stratégies de recherche à l’échelle internationale, la personne sera en mesure de traduire la recherche en politiques significatives et en impacts évolutifs. La personne possédera un doctorat dans un domaine connexe ou une combinaison équivalente de formation et d’expérience pertinents. Cette personne sera également une représentante externe expérimentée et une leader d'opinion,
