**ABOUT US**

**PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**

Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Carpenter Apprentice & Journeyman will be responsible for effectively delivering the civil portion of the project to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. achieves their general and specific project requirements.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Reading blueprints
- Undertaking the layout (selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions)
- Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts
- Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue
- Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location
- Performing a wide range of routine and complex repairs to timber, concrete, and steel bridges, including joint repairs and deck patching
- Maintaining, repairing, and cleaning bridges, as well as completing other assigned projects
- Recording and promptly reporting any items requiring repair, maintenance, or cleaning on appropriate documentation
- Journeyman will mentor apprentices

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- Certified Journeyman Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program or non-ticketed with hours
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in highway/bridge maintenance or a related field (preferred)
- Doka experience an asset
- The ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time
- Manual dexterity
- Good sense of balance when working on scaffolds
- The ability to solve math problems quickly and accurately
- The ability to get along well with others on a work team
- Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site
- Ariel work platform ticket
- Fall protection ticket

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
- Repetitive movement
- Able to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Continuously changing work tasks
- Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments

6/1 shift

**Salary**: $26.12-$40.18 per hour

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay

**Experience**:

- bridge carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
