Maintenance Service Worker

**NOTE: this is a temporary opportunity ending on or before June 28, 2024 with the possibility of extension.**

Reporting to the Supervisor of the Technician Centre, this position is responsible for general maintenance and repair of shop related equipment. The Maintenance Service Worker also prepares materials and training aids. The work also includes ensuring the work areas are in clean, workable, safe, and sufficiently stocked with consumable products. This position is located at Main Campus, 11762-106 Street.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Duties will include but are not limited to material handling and distribution, stocking inventory.
- Provide program support including general cleanup and housekeeping
- Repair of hand tools
- Maintain security of shop/lab and supplies
- Operate and monitor numerous types of woodworking equipment used in the preparation of materials for shops and labs.
- Bring in, set up and remove various teaching aides for the different programs
- Other duties as assigned.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Basic computer skills
- General knowledge of the safe operation and repair of woodworking tools including: hand tools, stationary and portable power tools
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
- Safe operation of a forklifts, a skid steers and loaders
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to perform physical work; including able to lift 50 lbs regularly.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of Grade twelve
- Related trades certificate a strong asset
- Experience in Carpentry and Cabinetmaker trades would be an asset.
- A valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Forklift operator certificate: expected to obtain relevant forklift training if not already certified.

**Remuneration**: $1,828.61- $2,287.40 biweekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Maintenance Service Work II)
- This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement_
