**JOB SUMMARY**:
Under the direction of the Manager W&WW SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), the SCADA Technician is responsible for the design, development, installation, commissioning and maintenance of Water & Wastewater and Waste Management SCADA systems. SCADA allows Operations to monitor, operate and control all the Region’s processes within the Water Distribution, Water Treatment, Wastewater Collection, Wastewater Treatment and Waste Management Leachate systems. Provide project review and coordination; supervise implementation and quality control of projects as it relates to SCADA.

Inspect and audit workmanship, materials and procedures throughout a project lifecycle to ensure that process automation, programming logic and control system specifications are met and in compliance with SCADA system standards. Review and comment on projects (capital and operational), addressing concerns and potential problems or conflicts resulting from contract drawings, specifications, plant and/or field conditions. Install, implement, test, maintain and improve SCADA systems (hardware and software), distributed process control Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and instrumentation at plants and associated remote sites. Maintain a liaison with the public, contractors, suppliers, engineering consultants, utilities, local municipalities, Regional staff, other government and inspection agencies, and acts on their concerns.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**EDUCATION**:

- Graduate of a three-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Systems and/or Automation Technology or Computer/Network Engineering Technology preferably with a specialty in Control Systems, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience, plus
- Must be certified or eligible for certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technician and Technologists (OACETT) as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)

**OR**
- Must possess and maintain a Certificate of Qualification under the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act as a Certified Industrial Electrician (309A/442A) and a graduate of a two-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, plus
- Must be certified or eligible for certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technician and Technologists (OACETT) as a Certified Engineering Technician (C.Tech).
- Must successfully obtain MECP Operator-in-Training certification in Water Treatment and Water Distribution within three (3) months of commencing employment, pass Class I Water Treatment exam within 18 months and obtain Class 1 Water Treatment certification within 60 months. Alternatively, incumbents may elect to pursue a Water Quality Analyst certification, within 18 months of commencing employment, in lieu of obtaining their Class 1 Water Treatment certification.
- Additional specialized training and education in Allen Bradley PLCs, GE iFix/iHistorian, Proficy Machine Edition, Local and Wide Area Networks, Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point), Information/Data Management and Reporting Systems, Quantitative and Qualitative Environmental Monitoring Technologies, and knowledge of Instrumentation, Troubleshooting and Verification Techniques.

**KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE**:

- Three to five years in Water/Wastewater SCADA and Control Systems or a similar work environment.
