Accounting and Tax Manager

Earls Kitchen + Bar is looking for an Accounting and Tax Manager who thrives on complex tax regulations, audits, and strategic planning.
Reporting to the CFO, you’ll oversee compliance with provincial and federal tax laws through robust systems and controls, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. You’ll stay current with changes in tax regulations, updating policies and strategies accordingly. This role will also make you the key liaison with external tax authorities, cultivating partnerships at the federal, provincial, and state levels. **Role Responsibilities**
- Oversee and process all Canadian income tax filings and elections, including T1, T2, T3, T5, and T5013 forms.
- Manage installment payments, corporate structuring, loss utilization, and other tax strategies.
- Facilitate and minimize the impact of government audits, including GST, PST, and Canadian income tax.
- Prepare year-end financials and tax filings for shareholder investment holding companies.
- Manage Canadian and US tax provisions and work with external firms on US tax filings.
- Conduct tax research and monitor regulatory changes in tax laws and tax accounting.
- Contribute to developing tax planning strategies and update processes to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Drive financial performance and risk management, always in the best interest of the company.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- CPA designation.
- A minimum of 4-7 years relevant experience in a major or mid-market accounting firm, with expertise in Canadian Corporate Tax Compliance, Planning, and Audits.
- Deep knowledge of Canadian personal and corporate taxation and tax accounting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, GSuite, and CCH Taxprep Software Suite (T1, T2, T3, T5, Taxforms).
- A background in indirect tax and completion of the CICA In-Depth Tax Course (Levels I and II) are a plus.
- Experience with legal document review and familiarity with US tax legislation is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
