**_Location: Heritage Centre, Cayuga_**_**PURPOSE OF POSITION**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Heritage & Culture, the incumbent will
- manage all activities related to the operation of their assigned county museum and related heritage and cultural

services and programs.
- comply with policies, procedures and regulations associated with museum operations.
- provide outreach and events to expand community profile, increase visitors and assist with tourism development.
- manage volunteers who assist with museum operations and events.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
**Community College degree relative to area of responsibility (Museum Management)

PLUS
- 5 years or more current related experience in a Museum environment including project and volunteer management

responsibilities (may include speciality training)

Or equivalent to that combination.

**KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED**:

- Sound technical knowledge relative to accountabilities
- Sound understanding of legislation, regulations relative to heritage and culture responsibilities
- Good understanding of municipal government, its operations and services
- Demonstrated project and people management skills
- Good knowledge of business processes and financial management methods to assist with the development of

Unit goals and objectives and work within approved budgets and to recommend and / or take appropriate action
to maintain sound financial positions
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relations with others (County staff, peers within other organizations,

agencies / organizations) to increase staff morale, team building, team spirit and community pride and resolve
work-site complaints / disputes / issues and to build community partnerships through events and program delivery
- Research, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to enable the assessment of issues / situations,

develop options and make recommendations necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the assigned
Museum
- Demonstrated research, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to enable the assessment of

- Leadership skills to provide guidance and direction to assigned staff and volunteers; to motivate staff and

volunteers to direct their efforts and skills toward achievement of defined objectives; to encourage the
development of staff and volunteer skills, knowledge and abilities and in doing so create a constructive, results
- oriented work environment
- Communication skills (listening, writing, verbal) to provide clear direction to assigned staff and volunteers; to

ensure solid understanding of work requirements; to prepare required reports, correspondence, documentation
and to encourage and sustain consensus building to make decisions
- Time Management / organization skills to identify priorities, re-arrange work if required to meet identified

deadlines
- Good understanding of municipal government, its operations and services and legislation that affects the area of

responsibility
- Valid Ontario Drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.

**COMPUTER EXPERTISE**:
Level 3 - The incumbent must possess introductory and intermediate level computer skills scored at 65% or higher for
Outlook and at least one of Word / Excel / PowerPoint to ensure their
