**LAB TECHNICIAN**
Banyan Photonics Canada Inc is a rapidly growing start-up company and a leader in the field of photonics. We are currently looking to hire a full-time lab technician to join our team in Kanata. The lab technician is responsible for testing, handling and assembling samples in a clean room environment. The work involves handling a large quantity of devices and requires meticulous record keeping. Experience in testing, assembling and handling photonic/microchip devices will be an important asset. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Run tests on semiconductor lasers using various test equipment and setup
- Work with electrical and telecom equipment in the assessment and characterization of laser products
- Sort through test data, run scripts and generate reports and graphs
- Run reliability testing including the use of oven and humidity chambers, wirepuller and shear tester
- Record test data accurately and keep task logs
- Handle semiconductor lasers in wafer, bar, die and CoC format
- Cleave semiconductor devices
- Operate die sorter to fulfill customer orders
- Assemble semiconductor devices and passive components following assembling procedures
- Carry out assembly tasks set out by project leader
- Support engineering activities, such as design, modification, and assembly of test setup
- Maintain lab cleanliness and tidiness on a daily basis
- Comply with lab procedures and protocol to meet ISO 9001 standards
To succeed in this position, you will meet the following requirements:
- Experience with Matlab, Excel and data management
- Knowledge of LabView and python is an asset
- Responsible, organized, and attention to detail
- Advanced manual dexterity
- Excellent time management skills
- Able to work with minimum supervision and meet deadlines
- Team player and adaptable
- trades certificate or diploma or equivalent experience
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Casual
**Salary**: $15.98-$36.08 per hour
