Roots Community Services Inc. (RootsCS) is a multi-service charitable organization that provides culturally-relevant programs and services to empower and inspire individuals, primarily from the Black, African and Caribbean (BAC) communities, to make positive changes in their lives and within their communities.

The Fund Development Officer position is focused on achieving annual and long-term fund development goals with a focus on diversifying funding streams for the organization. This entails securing grants from governments, foundations and corporations as well as contributions through donations and other fundraising activities. **Major Responsibilities**
- Assist in developing and implementing a fund development plan to increase revenues to support the strategic direction of RootsCS; make recommendations for both short-term and long-term strategies that will help ensure growth and sustainability
- Research, identify, evaluate, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects, including individuals, corporations, foundations, community groups and other granting agencies
- Work collaboratively with the communications team to prepare presentations and other communication materials to support the stewardship of current and prospective donors
- Recognize and leverage opportunities to create stories of impact by engaging with clients, volunteers, program partners, donors and community champions
- Develop, customize, submit and maintain a body of current research and program impact data, including statistics, citations, stories and testimonials
- Articulate concise, evidence-based case for support to funders, customized to their philanthropic values and impact priorities
- Analyze results and trends to inform continuous program improvement and to generate insights that will be included in reports to funders and other stakeholders
- Support the planning and execution of internal fundraising and donor stewardship events and activities.

**Qualifications and Other Requirements**
- University or College degree in a related discipline
- Two to three years’ experience in fundraising and donor relations
- Solid knowledge and practice of effective and ethical fundraising standards
- A good understanding of the Canadian nonprofit fundraising landscape including regulation, industry norms and key organizations
- Broad experience in grant and proposal writing and in building cases for support
- Experience in designing and managing successful events, program and fund development initiatives
- Strong written communications skills that can be applied in a variety of ways for specific audiences
- Skilled in designing and delivering inspiring, engaging public presentations
- Must be available to attend and represent RootsCS at various community events and meetings
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
- Highly organized, able to prioritize work, be self-directed and work within an equity seeking team
- High degree of innovation, self-motivation and accountability
- Skilled in using Microsoft 365 (Power Point, Excel, Word, Teams) and Google Workspace and adept at learning new systems
- Available to work occasional evenings or weekends
- Have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle
- Have a clean and valid Police Record Check
- Satisfactory references.

We operate in a hybrid work environment, both in office and remote and offer an attractive compensation package.

**Salary**: $50,960.00-$58,240.00 per year
