Home Support Worker

Position Summary

Reporting to the Family and Community Support Services Outreach Coordinator, the Home Support Worker is a casual position responsible for providing a range of homemaking tasks and practical services that support clients to live in their own homes with as much independence as possible.

Position Responsibilities

Program Administration
- Adheres to OH&S and County Policies to ensure safety;
- Maintains records including timesheets, billing and home support plans;
- Informs supervisor if replacement worker is needed;
- Ensures client and County confidentiality at all times;
Attends training and meetings as determined by supervisor;
Program Delivery- Provides client service within allotted time per client and in accordance with clients home support plan;
- Provides support and assistance for indoor cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation services as per task list provided by supervisor, these duties may change from time to time depending on the need;
Reports any concerns about the client’s health and safety to the supervisor;

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Home Support Worker training considered an asset;
- Food Handlers training considered an asset;
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License;
- Clear Driver’s Abstract;
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector;
Completion of Defensive Driving;
Attributes- Strong communication skills;
- Friendly and approachable disposition and demeanor;
- Ability to work with the public and seniors;
Home support or cleaning experience;
Working Environment- Work is conducted in client’s home and requires travel;
- Hours of work vary;
- Public contact may at times be confrontational;
- Conditions of work environment vary.

**The hourly rate for this position is $19.65 to $21.40 per hour.**

**The hours of work vary week to week.**
