**Warehouse Associate - Student**

**Job Summary**

We are looking for a student who will provide support for the food bank and other programs and objectives of the Reach Out Centre in alignment with the strategic plan of the agency. This job is a seasonal, 30 hours per week, support staff position for the summer months geared towards students and other applicants needing employment for the summer months.

- Receive, sort, count, weigh, label, pack and unpack, quality-checking and distributing donations
- Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using basic material handling equipment
- Maintain inventory both on and off site and manage the flow and distribution of food, etc. through the program
- Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and machinery/equipment
- Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research
- Lead, coach, direct, mentor and communicate information on policy, procedures, rules, job duties and health and safety to volunteers, students, etc.
- Perform and direct specialized tasks related to upkeep of equipment, buildings, grounds and facilities
- Perform administrative duties such as maintaining filing and record systems, inventory, timecards, etc.
- Attend functions/fundraising/Food Bank activities and community events during evenings and or/weekends to drop off bins, pick up donations, etc.
- Respect and follow all Port Cares policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required

**Skills and Abilities Required**
- Secondary school diploma
- Experience in a warehouse setting is an asset
- Current Fork Life Certificate and Safe Food Handling Certificate would be an asset
- Must be able to lift approximately 50-75 lbs as well as push, pull, bend, lift, carry, etc.
- Must be able to handle minor tools and machinery
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated responsibility, maturity and leadership abilities
- Understand the importance of proper freight handling
- Respect and sensitivity for individual cultural, educational and social uniqueness and diversity
- Technical aptitude, mechanically inclined with good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally and provide a clear driver’s abstract
- Willingness to work flexible hours

**CSJ Requirements**

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) initiative. To be eligible for this position, you must:

- Be a Canadian Citizen, a permanent resident or a refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- between the ages of 15-30 on the start date of the job
- be a student that had previously attended full-time studies in the last academic year, and will be returning to full time studies in the next academic year

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 15 weeks

**Salary**: $15.50-$17.89 per hour
