Accounting Administrator

The Shuswap Recreation Society provides the management of recreation facilities and programing for the City of Salmon Arm. With a service-mindset and commitment to collaboration, we are seeking an **Accounting Administrator** to support the administration team.

**The position**
The Accounting Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and receivable, and a variety of administrative accounting duties. This position provides mid-level accounting support to the finance team, and backup coverage to the Accounting Lead.
Specifically, this position is accountable for:
- Processing account payables and maintaining accounts;
- Preparing cheques, statements and mailings;
- Preparing monthly invoices and coordinating receivables;
- Tracking and following up with outstanding accounts;
- Supporting POS administration and preparing data for reconciliation;
- Supporting regular payroll preparation and data entry;
- Preparing monthly financial reports and petty cash reconciliations;
- Tracking insurance, utility and other costs and preparing reports for reconciliation;
- Coordinating supply inventory;
- Completing scanning, filing, file maintenance and other administrative tasks to support financial processes.
**Requirements**:
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in an office environment, with two (2) years in a financial accounting role.
- High School Diploma
- Certificate in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or Payroll is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with accounting and an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial processes.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Sage Accounting, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (using financial formulas and creating spreadsheets).
- Strong knowledge of basic math.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to make accurate entries, and identify discrepancies.
- Above average organizational skills and experience managing filing systems and administrative processes.
- Experience handling, counting and balancing cash.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize and carry out work with little supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.
- Strong ability to build positive relationships and collaborate with people at all levels of the organization; coworkers, suppliers, department heads and board members.
