**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Inspecting machinery and reporting any faults to management.
- Review production schedule to ensure correct product will be run on applicable machine; complete changeovers as per schedule
- Operate equipment where training has been completed.
- Assist other machine operators as required.
- At a minimum, meet all production rates for the equipment being operated.
- Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
- Complete all paperwork as required per DSI process (paper form or electronically).
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot alarms.
- Ensures high-quality production, keep work area clean.
- Check products for defects and to ensure conformance to company standards
- Remove products, machine attachments, and waste material from machines.
- Transfer finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas of plants and warehouses, by hand or using hand trucks or powered-lift trucks.
- Continue with Lean process initiatives, look for opportunities for improvement regarding planning and scheduling functions that support internal customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

**REQUIRED COMPETENCIES**
- Oral communication and listening skills to communicate effectively with othersusing the spoken or written word.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as pick tickets, production orders, quality instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure (metric and standard), using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Adapts to change, be open to new ideas, take on new responsibilities, handle pressure and adjust plans to meet changing needs.
- Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, and meets attendance/punctuality requirements.
- Deals with others in a straightforward and honest manner, has good listening skills, is accountable for actions.
- Ability to identify the eight wastes of Lean Manufacturing and more importantly reduce waste in the day-to-day activities.

**EXPERIENCE**
- Knowledge of and experience with Lean/Six Sigma and 5S principles is an asset.
- Process plant or related industrial experience an asset.
- Experience working in an environment that is ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified..

**EDUCATION**
- Minimum Technologist/Technician diploma in Manufacturing/Machining/Process Engineering/Electrical Engineering.
- Must pass the training skills and ability assessment.

- Secondary School (required)

**Experience**:

- process plant: 1 year (preferred)
- ISO 9001, 14001 and 4500: 1 year (preferred)
- Lean/Six Sigma and 5S principles: 1 year (preferred)
