Gas Technician

**About the Role**:
A Gas fitter would install, inspect, repair and maintain gas lines and gas equipment such as meters, regulators and heating units in industrial establishment. Testing and servicing equipment, installing gas lines for appliances like ovens and repairing pipes and fixtures. Maintain the heating systems of buildings to distribute heat. They may also conduct repairs and replace parts as needed. They can also work on blast furnaces, smokestacks, and equipment that helps abate air pollution.

**Responsibilities**
- Study drawings/blue prints and specifications to determine the layout of the installation and materials required
- Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment
- Install and maintain gas meters and regulators and gas lines between gas unit and gas meter
- Advise facility regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems (TSSA and ESA)
- Install, maintain and service gas heating units and their components, such as burners, valves and automatic controls
- Test and replace defective equipment or components
- Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices
- Attend to gas escape calls and assist in the investigation of gas fires and explosions
- Prepare reports on work performed and condition of facilities
- Convert motor vehicles or appliances to use natural gas fuels
- May repair and service gas appliances and related equipment
- **Must be TSSA Approved/Certified Gas Fitter (G1) (G2).**:

- 2-3 Years of work experience in the food/manufacturing industry performing major task.
- Must be physically capable of performing all work required of this position.
- Excellent written/Verbal communication

Pay: $39.00-$40.00 per hour

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Supplemental pay types:

**Experience**:

- Gas fitter: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- TSSA approved Gas Technician certificate ? (preferred)
