**Position Title**
Community Connector

**Reporting To**
Family Resource Network (FRN) Supervisor

**Position Summary**
The Community Connectors support the functioning of the Fort Saskatchewan and Sturgeon Region Family Resource Network Hub by providing information and referral support services to caregivers with children 0 - 18 years of age. The Connectors spend time at the Families First location in Fort Saskatchewan as well as community partner locations throughout the Sturgeon Region.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Create an inviting and inclusive environment for anyone entering the Families First space either in Fort Saskatchewan or Sturgeon Region locations
- Provide trauma informed, unconditional positive regard for Families First participants and partners
- Build positive relationships with community partners o Register community members for programs within the Family Resource Network o Provide, facilitate, and support referrals
- Utilize screening tools such as: Ages and Stages Questionnaire and Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire
- Complete intakes with caregivers of children 0 - 18 years of age
- Manage waitlists
- Provide brief intervention, support and coaching to families on a FRN waitlist
- Coordinate services when required
- Connect regularly with partners to foster relationships, support referral processes and communicate effectively
- Advocate for children, youth and families
- Weekly consultation with leadership
- Attend community nights/events, interagency, community of practice
- Attend external partner events to share information about FRN
- Participate in data collection and evaluation, and complete reports as required
- Report trends to FRN Supervisor
- **Qualifications**_
- A combination of education and experience in the human services field
- Knowledgeable in ASQ’s and various screening tools for children and youth would be an asset
- Excellent reflective practice, motivational interviewing, and solution focused skills
- Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
- High level of computer literacy
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to develop and maintain a positive working relationships
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule is a must; this includes some days, evenings, weekends
- Adapt well to changes in work priorities as needed o Solid knowledge of brain science, attachment theory, child development, trauma, and resiliency
- Access to a reliable vehicle and clean driving record
- Ability to provide criminal record check and intervention record check
- Willingness to embrace the culture and values of Families First Society
- Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and principles of equity, diversity and inclusion
