Duration: Full-time / Permanent (after successfully completing a probationary period)
Location: Various Locations (based in Vancouver, BC)
- Sources Archaeological & Research Inc_ is seeking to fill an entry-level position for a junior archaeologist. The position will involve assisting with fieldwork (forestry and municipal), office (reporting, mapping, GIS), and lab work. The exact balance of these tasks will change week to week, month to month, etc., with mentoring provided as necessary. The position is based in Vancouver, B.C. All of _Sources’_ projects are carried out with full First Nation support, the fieldwork carried out with the full involvement of local First Nation archaeological assistants.

**Requirements**:

- Respectful and engaged sensitivities for working with First Nation Heritage and Cultural Sites.
- BA/B.Sc. or currently enrolled in at least the third year of an undergraduate program (Archaeology or Anthropology), or greater.
- Familiarity with British Columbia coastal archaeology and the Heritage Conservation Act (HCA)_._
- Ability to learn quickly, work quickly, be an enthusiastic part of a team, and work with mínimal supervision.
- Applicant must be physically fit and willing to work outside in adverse weather conditions, both remotely and locally.
- Hold a Class 5 BC Driver’s licence and Level 1 First Aid.
- Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software (_i.e._ MS Word, Excel, etc).
- Archaeological excavation experience is an asset.

**Responsibilities**:

- Working with _Sources_ team members to carry out municipal archaeological fieldwork (in Metro Vancouver) and forestry surveys (out of town, sometimes in remote locations)
- Complete reports, site forms, and other permit and project deliverables.
- Post-fieldwork note digitizing and map preparation.
- Assist with project co-ordination, management, and planning.
- BC Archaeological Site Inventory Form completion.
- Laboratory: Artifact and fauna etc. identification, bagging, cataloguing, and organizing.
- Detailed note taking and mapping.
- Archaeological profile drawing and photographing.
- Be open to mentoring in, and using, all software pertinent to archaeological consulting (Office, Adobe CS, GIS, etc)
